Location: Scarborough, North Yorkshire

Contract: Full Time, Term Time Only
Salary: £92 – £115 per day
Are you an enthusiastic and caring Early Years Practitioner looking for a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference to young children’s lives?
GSL Education are currently seeking an Early Years Practitioner to join a specialist provision in Scarborough, supporting children within a specialist education environment.
The schools is a specialist setting supporting children and young people aged 2 to 16 years old with a wide range of special educational needs and disabilities. The school places a strong emphasis on nurturing relationships, individual development, independence and providing an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
The Role
As an Early Years Practitioner, you will play an important role in supporting young children with their learning, development and wellbeing. You will work closely with teaching staff and other professionals to create a safe, engaging and nurturing environment where every child can thrive.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting children in their early years’ development through play-based learning and engaging activities.
- Providing individual and small-group support based on children's individual needs and development.
- Supporting children with communication, social, emotional and behavioural needs.
- Building positive and trusting relationships with children, helping them to feel safe, confident and valued.
- Encouraging independence, confidence and positive social interactions.
- Supporting classroom routines, personal care and general wellbeing where required.
- Working closely with teachers, support staff and specialist professionals to ensure children receive consistent support.
- Maintaining a safe, inclusive and stimulating learning environment.
About You
We are looking for someone who is:
- Passionate about supporting young children and helping them reach their potential.
- Caring, patient and understanding, with a child-centred approach.
- Experienced working with children in an Early Years, nursery, school or childcare setting.
- Confident supporting children with additional needs, or keen to develop their experience within SEND.
- Able to build strong and positive relationships with children and colleagues.
- Calm, adaptable and able to respond positively to changing situations.
- A strong communicator who works well as part of a wider team.
- Committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
An Early Years qualification or relevant childcare experience would be advantageous.
