Personal Care Teaching Assistant

Location: Tower Hamlets
Salary: £100 - £120 per day
Start Date: ASAP

GSL Education is looking for an experienced Personal Care Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming secondary comprehensive school and sixth form for girls in Tower Hamlets. This is an excellent opportunity for a caring, patient and reliable Personal Care TA who is confident supporting students with their personal care and educational needs.

The school is looking for a female Personal Care Teaching Assistant who has experience providing intimate care and is confident with manual handling, including the safe use of beds and hoists. The successful Personal Care Teaching Assistant will play an important role in helping students feel safe, comfortable, supported and able to access their education.

Responsibilities

  • Provide personal and intimate care to students in a professional, respectful and dignified manner.
  • Support students with daily personal care routines according to individual care plans.
  • Carry out safe manual handling, including supporting students with beds and hoists.
  • Use manual handling equipment safely and correctly at all times.
  • Support students in lessons and help them access learning activities.
  • Work closely with teachers and other support staff to meet students' individual needs.
  • Promote students' independence, confidence and wellbeing wherever possible.
  • Communicate clearly and positively with students, staff and families when appropriate.
  • Follow school policies and procedures relating to safeguarding, health and safety and personal care.
  • Maintain confidentiality and treat all students with respect and dignity.

Requirements

  • Previous experience working as a Personal Care Teaching Assistant, Teaching Assistant, Care Assistant or in a similar support role.
  • Experience providing intimate or personal care is essential.
  • A valid Manual Handling Certificate is essential.
  • Experience using or supporting students with beds, hoists and other manual handling equipment.
  • Strong spoken and written English skills.
  • Relevant qualifications or training suitable for working with children or young people.
  • A caring, patient and supportive approach.
  • Ability to maintain professional boundaries and respect students' dignity and privacy.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • A strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
  • The ability to work confidently as part of a secondary school team.
