Salary Scale: £92 – £115 per day (Depending on experience)

GSL Education Hull Branch are currently recruiting for a dedicated, patient, and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to work within a supportive secondary school environment in Scarborough. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to make a meaningful difference to students with special educational needs and help them develop academically, socially, and personally.
About the Role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will provide tailored support to students with a range of additional needs, helping them access the curriculum and participate confidently in school life. You will work closely with teachers and the wider support team to create an inclusive and positive learning environment.
Core Responsibilities of the SEN Teaching Assistant:
- Provide one-to-one and small-group support to students with a range of SEN needs.
- Assist students in accessing lessons, completing activities, and developing greater independence.
- Adapt support strategies to meet individual learning, communication, emotional, and behavioural needs.
- Encourage positive behaviour, confidence, resilience, and active participation in school life.
- Support students who may experience difficulties with communication, concentration, emotional regulation, or social interaction.
- Work closely with teachers and wider school staff to monitor progress and provide consistent support.
As the Ideal SEN Teaching Assistant, You Should Have:
- Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEN or additional needs is desirable.
- A patient, nurturing, and empathetic approach to supporting individual students.
- An understanding of needs such as Autism, ADHD, learning difficulties, or communication needs.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- The resilience and flexibility to respond calmly to challenging or changing situations.
- A genuine passion for inclusive education and helping students achieve their potential.
To Work with GSL Education, You Must:
- Have the right to work in the UK.
- Provide an up-to-date CV and references covering the last 2 years.
- Have recent experience working with children or young people.
- Hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to apply for one.
