Job Title: SEND Teaching Assistant
Location: Hull
Contract Type: Temporary, Supply, Part-Time, Full-Time
Start Date: As Soon As Possible
Salary Scale: £92 – £115 per day (Depending on experience)
Are you passionate about supporting pupils with additional needs and helping them overcome barriers to learning? GSL Education Hull Branch are currently recruiting a caring and dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to work in an educational setting in Hull.
This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who can provide consistent, tailored support to pupils with a range of special educational needs, while working closely with teachers to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Main Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one and small-group support to pupils with a range of SEND and additional learning needs.
- Assist teachers with differentiated activities, classroom tasks, interventions, and learning resources.
- Adapt support to meet individual pupils’ academic, social, emotional, and communication needs.
- Encourage positive behaviour, confidence, independence, and active participation in learning.
- Monitor pupils’ engagement and progress, sharing relevant observations with teaching staff.
- Help maintain a safe, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment for all pupils.
Minimum Requirements:
- Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEND in a school, care, youth work, or similar setting is desirable.
- Good understanding of additional learning needs and the importance of personalised support.
- A patient, compassionate, and adaptable approach with the ability to build positive relationships with pupils.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively alongside teaching and support staff.
- A genuine commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare and development of children and young people.
- An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one.
