SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Folkestone, Kent
Salary: £93.33+ per day (depending on experience)
Start date: ASAP
Contract: Full-time, Long-term supply

This position is ideal for an SEN Teaching Assistant who thrives in a consistent Monday–Friday routine and has the skills to support pupils with autism (ASD), social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs, and speech and language difficulties.

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will be expected to:
- Deliver tailored 1:1 and small-group support to meet specific learning goals.
- Assist students with sensory regulation, communication tools, and emotional wellbeing.
- Manage classroom behaviour using a calm, patient, and positive reinforcement-based approach.
- Support the lead teacher in maintaining a structured and inclusive learning space.
- Carefully follow and implement individual Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
- Promote the development of daily living skills and personal autonomy for all pupils.
To be considered for this SEN Teaching Assistant role, the candidate must:
- Have recent experience supporting young people with additional needs in a school or care capacity.
- Possess a nurturing, patient, and adaptable personality.
- Demonstrate excellent teamwork skills and the ability to communicate effectively with staff and parents.
- Have the right to work in the UK.
- Meet GSL’s safer recruitment background checks.
- Have a Child Enhanced DBS certificate registered on the Update Service or be willing to apply for one.
