SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: Folkestone, Kent

Salary: £93.3+ per day (depending on experience)

Contract: Full-time

This position is perfect for anyone seeking a consistent Monday–Friday schedule who holds experience assisting learners with autism spectrum conditions, social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) challenges, communication difficulties, and complex needs. As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will be pivotal in fostering a secure, encouraging, and inclusive environment that helps every student thrive and build self-assurance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide targeted 1:1 and small group interventions throughout the day

  • Guide pupils with sensory regulation, speech support, and emotional well-being

  • Implement therapeutic, low-arousal strategies to encourage positive behaviour

  • Work Alongside the lead teacher to preserve a welcoming, productive setting

  • Promote self-sufficiency, social interaction, and functional life skills

  • Implement individual education plans and EHCP guidance accurately

 

Requirements:

  • Prior experience supporting children with additional needs (educational or care environments)

  • A calm, patient, and empathetic personality

  • Outstanding communication skills and a strong collaborative mindset

  • Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and behaviour management strategies

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or readiness to process one)
