Graduate Cover Supervisor

Location: Ashford, Kent

Salary: £100 - £120 per day (depending on experience)

Start Date: ASAP

Contract: Full-time, Long-term Supply

If so, GSL Education Kent would love to hear from you! We are currently recruiting for a dedicated Graduate Cover Supervisor to join a large and established secondary school in Ashford. This is a fantastic opportunity for a Graduate Cover Supervisor to gain valuable experience in classroom management, student engagement, and behaviour management while supporting students during teacher absence.

The school has high expectations for behaviour and achievement and is committed to helping students reach their full potential. As a Graduate Cover Supervisor, you will provide cover for planned and unplanned staff absence, ensuring students remain safe, focused, and engaged with their learning. The successful Graduate Cover Supervisor will become an important member of the school team and gain experience that can support future applications for teacher training.

As a Graduate Cover Supervisor, you will be expected to:

  • Supervise classes across different secondary year groups.
  • Deliver pre-prepared lessons and learning resources.
  • Maintain effective classroom and behaviour management.
  • Encourage students to remain focused and engaged.
  • Build positive and professional relationships with young people.
  • Support students with their learning where appropriate.
  • Work effectively alongside teaching and pastoral staff.

To be considered for this Graduate Cover Supervisor role, candidates must:

  • Hold a degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Have previous experience working with children or young people.
  • Have experience through a school, tutoring, sports coaching, mentoring, youth work, or similar setting.
  • Be confident managing groups of students.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Be patient, resilient, adaptable, and reliable.
  • Have a genuine interest in progressing into teaching.
  • Have the right to work in the UK.
  • Meet GSL's safer recruitment requirements.
  • Hold an Enhanced Child DBS registered on the Update Service or be willing to apply for one.
