Graduate Cover Supervisor

Location: Dover, Kent

Salary: £100 - £120 per day (depending on experience)

Start Date: ASAP

Contract: Full-time, Long-term Supply

Would you like to gain first-hand classroom experience as a Graduate Cover Supervisor before taking the next step towards teacher training?

If so, GSL Education Kent would love to hear from you! We are currently seeking a confident Graduate Cover Supervisor to join a well-regarded secondary school in Dover. This is an excellent opportunity for a Graduate Cover Supervisor to experience day-to-day life within a secondary school while helping students maintain their learning when their usual teachers are absent.

As a Graduate Cover Supervisor, you will provide valuable day-to-day cover, supervising classes and ensuring students remain focused on their prepared work. The successful Graduate Cover Supervisor will demonstrate strong classroom presence, patience, and resilience when working with young people.

As a Graduate Cover Supervisor, you will be expected to:

  • Confidently supervise classes across the secondary age range.
  • Deliver prepared work and resources provided by teaching staff.
  • Maintain positive behaviour and clear classroom expectations.
  • Encourage students to remain focused and engaged with their learning.
  • Provide appropriate support to students during lessons.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching and pastoral staff.
  • Help provide continuity of learning during staff absence.

To be considered for this Graduate Cover Supervisor role, candidates must:

  • Hold a degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Have previous experience working with children or young people.
  • Have experience within a school, tutoring, coaching, mentoring, youth work, or similar environment.
  • Demonstrate strong classroom presence and behaviour management skills.
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Be patient, organised, resilient, and reliable.
  • Have a genuine interest in pursuing a career in teaching.
  • Have the right to work in the UK.
  • Meet GSL's safer recruitment requirements.
  • Hold an Enhanced Child DBS registered on the Update Service or be willing to apply for one.
