Job Title: Teaching Assistant (Secondary)

Location: Doncaster

Salary: £460 - £600 per week (depending on experience and qualifications)

Contract Type: Long-term / Temporary, Full-time / Part-time

Start Date: Immediate Start

Are you passionate about helping young people succeed in the classroom? A supportive secondary school in Doncaster is looking for a dedicated Teaching Assistant to provide valuable learning and pastoral support to pupils across Key Stages 3 and 4.

About the Role:

As a Teaching Assistant, you will work alongside subject teachers to support pupils with their learning, engagement and development. You may provide support across different departments, work with individuals or small groups, and help pupils stay focused during lessons and transitions.

You will also play an important part in supporting pupils who may need additional help with their learning, behaviour or confidence, including those working towards their GCSEs.

Responsibilities:

  • Support pupils across Key Stages 3 and 4 with their learning and classroom engagement.

  • Work alongside subject teachers to provide effective in-class support.

  • Provide one-to-one and small-group assistance where required.

  • Help pupils stay focused and prepared during lessons and transitions.

  • Support appropriate behaviour and encourage positive participation.

  • Assist pupils with additional learning needs where appropriate.

  • Share relevant observations and feedback with teaching and pastoral staff.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • A patient, calm and encouraging approach.

  • Confidence supporting pupils across different subjects and year groups.

  • Ability to work effectively alongside teachers and wider school staff.

  • A genuine commitment to helping young people progress.

  • Experience within a secondary school or similar educational setting is advantageous.

To work with GSL Education as a Teaching Assistant (Secondary), you should:

  • Have the right to work in the UK.

  • Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last two years.

  • Have an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.

Please be advised that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection and that successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks including providing an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or completing an application for a new check.
