Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Sheffield
Salary: £460 - £600 per week (depending on experience and qualifications)
Contract Type: Long-term / Temporary, Full-time / Part-time

Are you passionate about helping pupils overcome barriers to learning and reach their potential? A supportive school in Sheffield is looking for a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to provide tailored support to pupils with special educational needs.
About the Role:
As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and support staff to help pupils access their learning and participate confidently in school life. You may provide one-to-one or small-group support, assist with classroom activities and help pupils develop their communication, independence and learning skills.
The role will suit someone who is patient, adaptable and committed to understanding the individual needs of each pupil.

Responsibilities:

Provide one-to-one and small-group support to pupils with SEN.

Assist pupils with classroom tasks and learning activities.

Adapt support to meet individual learning and communication needs.

Encourage pupils to develop confidence, independence and positive learning habits.

Support appropriate behaviour and help pupils remain engaged in lessons.

Work closely with teachers and other support staff to implement individual strategies.

Monitor pupil progress and share relevant observations with staff.
Requirements:
-
Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEN is desirable.

A patient, caring and resilient approach.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to adapt your approach to suit individual pupils.

Confidence working as part of a wider school team.

A genuine commitment to inclusive education and supporting young people.
-
Experience within a school or specialist education setting is advantageous.
To work with GSL Education as a SEN Teaching Assistant, you should:

Have the right to work in the UK.

Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last two years.

Have an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
Please be advised that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection and that successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks including providing an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or completing an application for a new check.
We also offer, via our partner, access to accredited Education-relevant CPD courses.
In addition to that, GSL Education are currently offering £100 for the successful referral of either Teachers or Teaching Assistants (Ts &Cs apply).
