Job title: Cover Supervisor
Location: Wakefield (WF1)
Salary: £105–£120 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Long-Term/ Day-to-day, Full-Time / Part-Time
Can you take the lead in the classroom and keep students engaged?
GSL Education South Yorkshire Branch are currently looking for a confident and dependable Cover Supervisor (CS) to support a school in Wakefield (WF1). This is an excellent opportunity for someone who can maintain a positive classroom atmosphere, follow provided lesson plans and ensure learning continues smoothly in the teacher's absence.
Your responsibilities as a Cover Supervisor:
- Supervise classes across different subjects according to the work provided.
- Give clear instructions and ensure students understand their learning tasks.
- Establish and maintain positive classroom expectations.
- Manage low-level disruption and behaviour in line with school procedures.
- Encourage students to remain focused and complete their assigned work.
- Provide appropriate assistance to students during lessons.
- Communicate any concerns, incidents or relevant lesson information to teaching staff.
Requirements for the role:
- Previous experience working with children or young people as a Cover Supervisor or similar role is desirable.
- Experience within a school, tutoring, youth work or similar environment would be advantageous.
- Confident approach to classroom and behaviour management.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to remain composed and professional in challenging situations.
- Reliable, organised and able to work independently.
- Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) certificate on the Update Service, or willingness to apply.
- A good understanding of safeguarding and child protection is also expected from a CS.
