Job Title: PE Teacher

Location: Wakefield (WF1)

Salary: £150 – £200 per day (Depending on experience)

Start Date: ASAP

Contract Type: Full-Time/Part-Time, Long-term/ Day-to-day

GSL Education South Yorkshire Branch are currently seeking a Physical Education Teacher for a school in Wakefield (WF1), with an immediate start available. If you can create lessons that are active, purposeful, and enjoyable while maintaining clear expectations, this could be a great opportunity to make a real difference.

As a PE Teacher, you’ll be responsible for delivering well-planned lessons across a range of sporting activities and helping pupils develop both physical skills and confidence. You’ll encourage participation, recognise individual strengths, and make sure every pupil has the opportunity to get involved.

Your responsibilities as a PE teacher:

  • Planning and delivering engaging PE lessons suitable for pupils with different abilities.
  • Creating a supportive atmosphere where pupils feel comfortable participating and developing their skills.
  • Teaching a variety of physical activities and promoting teamwork, resilience, and fair play.
  • Monitoring progress and adapting activities to provide appropriate support or challenges.
  • Managing behavior positively and maintaining high standards throughout lessons.
  • Ensuring health and safety procedures are followed during practical activities.
  • Working collaboratively with other members of staff to support pupils’ wider development.

As a PE Teacher you ideally should have:

  • QTS or relevant teaching qualifications and experience.
  • Strong subject knowledge and enthusiasm for physical education.
  • The ability to motivate pupils with different interests, abilities, and confidence levels.
  • Effective classroom and behavior management skills.
  • A positive, approachable manner and strong communication skills.
  • A genuine commitment to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing.
  • An enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or willingness to apply for one.
