Psychology Graduate – SEN Teaching Assistant

Are you a Psychology Graduate looking to gain valuable experience working with children and young people with Special Educational Needs? GSL Education is currently seeking enthusiastic and compassionate Psychology Graduates to work in SEN settings across Lincoln on a supply basis, with the opportunity for roles to develop into long-term or permanent positions.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Psychology Graduate looking to build a career within education, psychology, or specialist support.
The Role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will support pupils with a wide range of additional needs, including Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) and Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD).
You may be supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis or working as part of a wider classroom team. Your role will involve helping pupils to engage with learning, develop their confidence and independence, and access a safe, supportive and nurturing educational environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting children and young people with a range of SEN needs.
- Providing 1:1 and small-group support where required.
- Supporting pupils with their learning, communication and personal development.
- Helping to manage and de-escalate challenging behaviour using positive and consistent approaches.
- Building strong, trusting relationships with pupils.
- Working closely with teachers and SEN staff to support individual needs.
- Encouraging independence, confidence and positive social interaction.
- Supporting pupils with their emotional wellbeing and regulation.
The Ideal Candidate
We are particularly interested in hearing from Psychology Graduates who are:
- Passionate about supporting children and young people.
- Interested in SEN, educational psychology, child development or mental health.
- Patient, empathetic and resilient.
- Confident in building positive relationships with pupils.
- Able to remain calm and consistent when faced with challenging situations.
- Keen to gain practical experience within an SEN environment.
- Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable but not essential.
