Job Title: Behaviour Support
Location: Sheffield
Pay Rate: £460 - £650 per week (depending on experience)
Start Date: September 2026
Contract: Full-time/ Part-time, Day-to-day/ Long-term

Can you help young people manage challenging situations, make positive choices, and stay engaged with their education?

GSL Education South Yorkshire Branch are looking to appoint patient and confident Behaviour Support staff to work in schools across Sheffield. This opportunity is suited to individuals who can build trust with young people, set clear boundaries, and provide consistent guidance to help learners improve their behaviour and classroom engagement.

The Behaviour Support role focuses on helping students develop better ways to manage their emotions and actions while supporting their participation in everyday school life.

Behaviour Support Responsibilities:

  • Provide focused support to learners experiencing behavioural difficulties
  • Build positive relationships based on trust, respect, and clear expectations
  • Help students recognise triggers and manage challenging situations appropriately
  • Encourage young people to make positive choices and take responsibility for their actions
  • Support learners with returning to classroom activities after difficult situations
  • Communicate with teachers and pastoral teams to maintain consistent behaviour strategies

Behaviour Support Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people in an educational setting or similar
  • Understanding of positive behaviour management methods
  • Ability to remain calm and professional during challenging situations
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Patient, consistent, and confident approach to setting boundaries
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
