Job Title: Cover Supervisor
Location: Sheffield
Pay Rate: £460 - £650 per week (depending on experience)
Start Date: September 2026
Contract: Full-time/ Part-time, Day-to-day/ Long-term

GSL Education South Yorkshire Branch are seeking confident and adaptable Cover Supervisor (CS) to work with schools in Sheffield. This role would suit individuals who enjoy working with young people, can take responsibility for a class, and are comfortable following prepared lesson plans across different subjects.
The Cover Supervisor helps lessons continue smoothly during teacher absence by guiding students through set work, maintaining classroom routines, and creating a productive learning environment.
Cover Supervisor Responsibilities:
- Supervise classes when the regular teacher is unavailable
- Guide learners through work and activities already prepared by teaching staff
- Explain instructions clearly and respond to general questions
- Keep students focused and encourage them to complete assigned tasks
- Manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies
- Report relevant feedback, concerns, and completed work to teaching staff
Cover Supervisor Requirements:
- Previous experience working with children or young people in a school or similar setting
- Confidence managing a classroom and maintaining clear expectations
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to follow lesson plans and school procedures
- Calm, reliable, and flexible approach to different classes and subjects
- Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
