Job Title: Cover Supervisor
Location: Middlesbrough
Pay Rate: £100 - £130 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: September 2026
Contract: Full-time/ Part-time, Day-to-day/ Long-term

GSL Education Newcastle Branch are looking to appoint reliable and confident Cover Supervisor (CS) to work in schools across Middlesbrough. This opportunity is ideal for individuals who enjoy working with young people, can take responsibility for a classroom, and are comfortable supporting lessons across different subjects.
The Cover Supervisor maintains an organised learning environment, guides learners through prepared activities, and helps classes run smoothly when regular teaching staff are unavailable.
Cover Supervisor Responsibilities:
- Supervise classes and introduce work prepared by the absent teacher
- Make sure students understand instructions and remain focused on assigned tasks
- Maintain clear classroom expectations and respond appropriately to disruption
- Assist learners with general questions about the work provided
- Monitor completed activities and leave useful information for teaching staff
- Follow school policies and routines throughout each lesson
Cover Supervisor Requirements:
- Previous experience working with children or young people in school or similar setting
- Confidence taking responsibility for groups in a classroom setting
- Clear and effective communication skills
- Ability to manage behaviour calmly and fairly
- Flexible approach to covering different subjects and year groups
- Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
