GSL Education Hull branch are currently hiring a motivated and compassionate Speech and Language Graduate to work within a specialist educational setting in Scarborough. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate who is considering a career in Speech and Language Therapy, Educational Psychology, or Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), and is eager to gain valuable hands-on experience.

As a Speech and Language Graduate, you will work alongside teachers, therapists, and specialist support staff to help pupils with speech, language, and communication needs, alongside a range of additional learning needs. You will support students in developing their communication, confidence, and independence through tailored interventions and structured learning activities.

Main Responsibilities as a Speech and Language Graduate:

  • Support pupils with speech, language, and communication needs through one-to-one and small-group interventions.
  • Assist teachers and specialist staff in delivering personalised learning activities that promote communication and language development.
  • Encourage students' social interaction, confidence, and independence within the classroom and wider school environment.
  • Help implement individual education plans (IEPs) and communication strategies under the guidance of teaching and therapy professionals.
  • Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teachers and the wider multidisciplinary team.
  • Promote a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment where every pupil can thrive.

Speech and Language Graduate Minimum Requirements:

  • A degree in Speech and Language Therapy, Linguistics, or a related subject.
  • A genuine interest in supporting children and young people with SEND and speech, language, and communication needs.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
  • A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach to supporting learners with additional needs.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one).
