Contract: Full Time, Term Time Only
Salary: £92 – £115 per day

GSL Education are currently recruiting for a dedicated and compassionate Full-Time Teaching Assistant to join a specialist education setting in York, from September.

This is an exciting opportunity to support young people with additional needs within a caring and inclusive environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in helping pupils develop academically, socially, and emotionally, while supporting them to achieve their individual goals and reach their full potential.

About the Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teaching staff and specialist teams to provide tailored support to pupils, helping create a safe, engaging, and supportive learning environment.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting pupils with their learning, development, and wellbeing.
  • Providing 1:1 and small group support where required.
  • Assisting teachers in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons.
  • Supporting pupils with additional needs, including communication, sensory, and behavioural needs.
  • Encouraging independence, confidence, and positive engagement in school life.
  • Building strong relationships with pupils, staff, and families.
  • Supporting the creation of a safe, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment.

The Ideal Teaching Assistant Will Have:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people in an educational, care, or support setting.
  • A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
  • A patient, caring, and resilient approach.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • The ability to build positive relationships with pupils and colleagues.
  • A proactive attitude and willingness to support individual needs.
  • Experience supporting pupils with SEND and SEMH.
