Graduate Teaching Assistant

Location: Middlesbrough
Salary: £90–£120 per day (dependent on experience)

This Graduate Teaching Assistant role is ideal for recent graduates considering a career in teaching, educational psychology or another education-related profession who are looking to gain valuable classroom experience.

The successful Graduate Teaching Assistant will work closely with teachers to support pupils across a range of year groups and abilities. As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will provide classroom support, deliver targeted interventions and work with pupils on both a 1:1 basis and in small groups to help them achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities of the Graduate Teaching Assistant:

  • Supporting teaching and learning within the classroom.

  • Working with pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups.

  • Delivering targeted interventions under the guidance of the class teacher.

  • Assisting with lesson preparation and classroom organisation.

  • Supporting pupils with SEND and additional learning needs where required.

  • Promoting positive behaviour and classroom engagement.

  • Encouraging pupil confidence, independence and participation.

  • Helping to maintain a safe, inclusive and engaging learning environment.

The Ideal Graduate Teaching Assistant Will:

  • Hold a degree in any subject.

  • Have a genuine interest in pursuing a career in education.

  • Have previous experience working with children or young people (desirable).

  • Be enthusiastic, patient and adaptable.

  • Have excellent communication and teamwork skills.

  • Hold an enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or be willing to apply).

  • Have a fully checkable work history.
