GSL Education are currently recruiting for a compassionate, dedicated, and experienced SEN Teacher to work across specialist and mainstream educational settings in Scarborough and the surrounding areas.

This is a rewarding opportunity for a passionate educator who is committed to supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). You will create an inclusive learning environment where every student is encouraged to develop academically, socially, and emotionally through personalised teaching and support.

About the Role:

As an SEN Teacher, you will deliver tailored lessons that meet the individual needs of students with a range of additional learning needs, including Autism, ADHD, SEMH, speech and language needs, and moderate learning difficulties. You will work collaboratively with support staff, families, and external professionals to ensure every learner receives the guidance and opportunities they need to succeed.

Core Responsibilities of the SEN Teacher:

  • Plan and deliver personalised lessons that meet the diverse needs of students with SEND
  • Adapt teaching strategies and resources to support individual learning and development
  • Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records to inform future planning
  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment that promotes confidence and independence
  • Work closely with teaching assistants, families, and external agencies to support student outcomes
  • Implement individual education plans and behaviour support strategies where appropriate

As the Ideal SEN Teacher, You Should Have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) or an equivalent teaching qualification
  • Experience teaching students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
  • Strong understanding of inclusive teaching practices and differentiated learning
  • Excellent communication, classroom management, and interpersonal skills
  • A patient, adaptable, and empathetic approach to supporting learners with diverse needs
  • A genuine commitment to helping every student achieve their full potential

To Work with GSL Education, You Must:

  • Have the right to work in the UK
  • Provide an up-to-date CV with relevant reference information covering the last 2 years
  • Have recent experience teaching within an educational setting
  • Hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to apply for one
