Salary Scale: £32,916 – £51,048 per annum (MPS/UPS)

GSL Education Hull Branch are currently searching for an SEMH Teacher to work across a range of supportive and inclusive educational settings in Scarborough. We are looking for a dedicated, adaptable, and inspiring educator who is passionate about supporting students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs through high-quality teaching and positive relationship-building.
SEMH Teacher Role:
The successful SEMH Teacher will deliver engaging and personalised lessons that meet the individual needs of students with SEMH needs, helping them to develop academically, socially, and emotionally. We are looking to recruit an SEMH Teacher who can create a structured, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment while promoting confidence, resilience, and positive behaviour.
SEMH Teacher Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to the needs of students with SEMH needs
- Build positive and trusting relationships that encourage engagement, confidence, and resilience
- Implement effective behaviour management strategies to support positive learning outcomes
- Assess, monitor, and record student progress, adapting teaching approaches where necessary
- Work collaboratively with support staff, parents, and external agencies to meet students' individual needs
- Foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment that promotes wellbeing and achievement
SEMH Teacher Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) or an equivalent teaching qualification
- Experience working with students with SEMH needs or other additional learning needs is highly desirable
- Strong behaviour management and classroom management skills
- Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal abilities
- A patient, resilient, and empathetic approach to supporting young people with complex needs
- An up-to-date CV covering the last ten years (with any gaps explained)
- An enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or willingness to apply
