GSL Education Newcastle branch is currently recruiting dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistants to work across a range of welcoming and inclusive schools throughout Northumberland, including Morpeth, Ashington, Blyth, Bedlington, Hexham, Alnwick, Berwick and the surrounding areas. We regularly recruit for both mainstream schools with SEND provisions and specialist settings across the county.

The Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA), you'll play a vital role in supporting pupils with a variety of additional needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH), Moderate and Severe Learning Difficulties (MLD/SLD). You'll work closely with teachers, SENCOs and other professionals to deliver tailored support, helping pupils access learning, build confidence and achieve their individual goals.

Your Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support.
  • Assist in delivering engaging and differentiated learning activities.
  • Support pupils with social, emotional and behavioural development.
  • Encourage independence while promoting a positive learning environment.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, parents and external professionals.
  • Monitor progress and contribute to pupil development records.

What We're Looking For

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN in a school, care or support setting is desirable.
  • A caring, patient and resilient approach.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to build positive relationships with pupils, families and staff.
  • A proactive attitude and willingness to learn.
  • Relevant qualifications are desirable but not essential.
  • verification of the right to work in the UK.
  • An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one)
