GSL Education Newcastle branch is currently recruiting dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistants to work across a range of welcoming and inclusive schools in Newcastle upon Tyne. The Role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) you'll play a vital role in supporting pupils with a variety of additional needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH), Moderate and Severe Learning Difficulties (MLD/SLD). You will work closely with teachers and SENCOs to provide tailored support, helping pupils to access learning, develop confidence and achieve their individual goals.
Your Responsibilities
- Provide one-to-one and small group support.
- Assist in delivering engaging and differentiated learning activities.
- Support pupils with social, emotional and behavioural development.
- Encourage independence while promoting a positive learning environment.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, parents and external professionals.
- Monitor progress and contribute to pupil development records.
What We're Looking For
- Experience working with children or young people with SEN (school, care or support setting desirable).
- A caring, patient and resilient attitude.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
- A proactive approach and willingness to learn.
- Relevant qualifications are desirable but not essential.
- verification of the right to work in the UK.
- An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one)
