Salary: £13 - £17 per hour (depending on experience)

GSL Education Newcastle are seeking dedicated Site Supervisors to work in schools across Middlesbrough, helping to maintain safe, secure, and well-maintained premises that support effective teaching and learning.

The School Site Supervisor will be responsible for the day-to-day maintenance, security, and smooth operation of the school site. This role is ideal for someone with practical maintenance skills, excellent organisational abilities, and a strong commitment to ensuring a safe environment for students, staff, and visitors.

Responsibilities of a School Site Supervisor:

  • Open and close the school premises, ensuring site security at all times.
  • Carry out routine maintenance, minor repairs, and basic DIY tasks across the school.
  • Monitor the condition of buildings, grounds, and facilities, reporting any major repairs required.
  • Conduct regular health and safety checks, ensuring compliance with school policies and procedures.
  • Oversee contractors and visitors working on site where required.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and appearance of external areas, including pathways and playgrounds.
  • Assist with room setups for school events, meetings, and activities.
  • Ensure maintenance equipment and supplies are stored safely and used appropriately.
  • Respond promptly to emergencies and site-related issues as they arise.

Requirements of a Site Supervisor:

  • Previous experience in a site supervision, caretaking, facilities, or maintenance role is desirable.
  • Good practical maintenance and DIY skills.
  • Strong understanding of health and safety regulations within a workplace.
  • Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
  • Good communication and organisational skills.
  • Reliable, flexible, and proactive approach to work.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe, secure, and welcoming school environment.
  • An enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service or willingness to apply through GSL Education.
