Salary: £13 - £17 per hour (depending on experience)

GSL Education Newcastle are seeking a committed Site Supervisor to work in schools across Seaham, ensuring that school premises remain safe, secure, and well-maintained for students, staff, and visitors.

The Site Supervisor will oversee the day-to-day management of the school site, carrying out routine maintenance, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, and supporting the smooth operation of the school environment. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who enjoys practical work and takes pride in maintaining high standards across school facilities.

Main Responsibilities of a Site Supervisor:

  • Open and close the school premises, ensuring the security of the site.
  • Carry out routine maintenance, minor repairs, and general DIY tasks.
  • Conduct regular inspections of the buildings, grounds, and facilities.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and school policies.
  • Report and coordinate major repairs with external contractors where required.
  • Monitor heating, lighting, plumbing, and other building systems.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and presentation of external areas, including playgrounds and pathways.
  • Prepare rooms and facilities for meetings, examinations, and school events.
  • Respond promptly to emergencies and site-related issues.

Requirements of a School Site Supervisor:

  • Previous experience in a site supervision, caretaking, facilities management, or maintenance role.
  • Good practical maintenance, repair, and DIY skills.
  • Sound knowledge of health and safety procedures and site security.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • Flexible, reliable, and proactive approach to work.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe and welcoming school environment.
  • An enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service or willingness to apply through GSL Education.
