Salary Scale: £92 – £110 per day (Depending on experience)
Are you a caring and dedicated Learning Support Assistant looking to make a meaningful difference in the education and wellbeing of young people?
GSL Education are currently seeking a Learning Support Assistant to work across a range of supportive and inclusive secondary schools in York. We are looking for a compassionate, enthusiastic, and proactive support professional who is passionate about helping students overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential in a positive educational environment.
Learning Support Assistant Role:
The successful Learning Support Assistant will provide classroom support and targeted interventions to students who require additional assistance with their learning and development. We are looking to recruit a Learning Support Assistant who is confident working with young people, including those with SEND or additional learning needs, and can build positive relationships that encourage confidence, independence, and academic progress.
Learning Support Assistant Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with a range of learning needs
- Assist teachers in delivering engaging lessons and adapting learning resources where required
- Support students with SEND, SEMH, or other barriers to learning, promoting inclusion and participation
- Encourage positive behaviour, confidence, and independence within the classroom
- Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teaching staff to support learning outcomes
- Work collaboratively with teachers, pastoral staff, and parents to promote student wellbeing and achievement
Learning Support Assistant Requirements:
- Previous experience working with children or young people in an educational or support setting is desirable
- Knowledge of supporting students with SEND or additional learning needs is advantageous
- Strong communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills
- A patient, adaptable, and positive approach to supporting young people's learning and development
- A good understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
- An up-to-date CV covering the last ten years (with any gaps explained)
- An enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or willingness to apply
