Job Title: Behaviour Mentor
Location: York, North Yorkshire
Contract: Temporary, Supply, Part-Time, Full-Time
Start Date: September 2026 or sooner
Salary: £92 – £110 per day (Depending on experience)

GSL Education are currently recruiting for a compassionate, resilient, and proactive Behaviour Mentor to work across secondary schools and specialist educational settings in York.
This is a rewarding opportunity for individuals who are passionate about supporting young people with behavioural, social, emotional, or additional learning needs. You will play a key role in helping students build confidence, improve engagement, and develop the skills needed to succeed both inside and outside the classroom.
About the Role:
As a Behaviour Mentor, you will provide targeted support to individual learners and small groups, helping to manage behaviour positively and remove barriers to learning. Working closely with teaching staff, pastoral teams, and families, you will encourage students to make positive choices while promoting resilience, self-regulation, and personal development.
Core Responsibilities of the Behaviour Mentor:
• Provide one-to-one and small-group behavioural support to students
• Build positive relationships that encourage engagement, confidence, and resilience
• Support the implementation of behaviour management and intervention strategies
• Work collaboratively with teachers and pastoral staff to improve student outcomes
• Monitor student progress and maintain accurate support records
• Promote a safe, inclusive, and respectful learning environment
As the Ideal Behaviour Mentor, You Should Have:
- Experience working with children or young people in education, mentoring, youth work, coaching, or care settings
- Strong behaviour management and communication skills
- A patient, resilient, and empathetic approach to supporting learners
- Ability to build trusting relationships and act as a positive role model
- Good organisational skills and the ability to adapt to different situations
- A genuine commitment to helping young people achieve their full potential
To Work with GSL Education, You Must:
- Have the right to work in the UK
- Provide an up-to-date CV with relevant reference information covering the last 2 years
- Have recent experience working with children or young people
- Hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to apply for one
