Job Title: Teacher of PE
Location: York and surrounding areas, North Yorkshire
Contract Type: Temporary, Part Time, Term Time Only
Start Date: September 2026 or sooner
Salary Scale: £32,916 – £51,048 per annum (MPS/UPS)

GSL Education Hull Branch are currently seeking a Teacher of PE to work within a successful and forward-thinking secondary school in York. We are looking for a dynamic, passionate, and committed educator who can motivate students to achieve their full potential while contributing to a thriving Physical Education department with excellent sporting opportunities.
Teacher of PE Role:
The successful Teacher of Physical Education will deliver high-quality Physical Education lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, fostering participation, teamwork, and a lifelong enjoyment of sport. This role has a particular focus on teaching Girls' PE, so we are looking to recruit a Teacher of PE who is confident delivering an engaging and inclusive curriculum while encouraging students of all abilities to develop their skills, confidence, and enthusiasm for physical activity.
Teacher of PE Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver engaging PE lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, with a particular focus on Girls' PE
- Promote participation, teamwork, resilience, and healthy lifestyles through a broad PE curriculum
- Assess, monitor, and record student progress, providing constructive feedback to support achievement
- Create a safe, inclusive, and well-managed learning environment with high expectations for all students
- Contribute to extracurricular sports clubs, fixtures, competitions, and enrichment activities
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to promote student wellbeing and the continued success of the PE department
Teacher of PE Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) or an equivalent teaching qualification
- Experience teaching PE within a secondary school setting
- Strong classroom and behaviour management skills with the ability to motivate students of all abilities
- A passion for Physical Education and commitment to promoting participation and achievement in Girls' PE
- Excellent planning, organisational, communication, and assessment skills
- An up-to-date CV covering the last ten years (with any gaps explained)
- An enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or willingness to apply
