Job Title: Teaching Assistant

Contract Type: Temporary, Supply, Part-Time, Full-Time
Start Date: September 2026 or sooner
Salary Scale: £92 – £110 per day (Depending on experience)

GSL Education Hull branch are currently hiring dedicated and motivated Teaching Assistants to work in secondary schools across York and the surrounding areas. Whether you are looking for day-to-day supply work, long-term placements, or a permanent role, we can help you find an opportunity that matches your skills, experience, and career aspirations.
As a Teaching Assistant, you will work alongside teachers and support staff to provide effective classroom support, helping students to engage with learning and make positive academic and personal progress. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working with young people and making a meaningful impact in the classroom.
Main Responsibilities as a Teaching Assistant:
- Support teachers in delivering engaging lessons and maintaining a positive learning environment.
- Provide one-to-one and small-group support to students who require additional assistance.
- Assist students in overcoming barriers to learning and developing confidence and independence.
- Help prepare classroom resources and support the delivery of learning activities.
- Encourage positive behaviour, participation, and respect within the classroom.
- Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teaching staff where appropriate.
Teaching Assistant Minimum Requirements:
- Previous experience working with children or young people in an educational or support setting is desirable.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
- A patient, adaptable, and proactive approach to supporting learning.
- Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
- An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one).
