Job Title: KS2 English Teacher
Location: Newcastle upon Tyne
Pay: £750–£1,100 per week (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract: Full-time/ Part-time, Day-to-day/ Long-term

Could you help Key Stage 2 pupils develop the literacy skills they need to succeed both in and beyond the classroom?

GSL Education Newcastle branch are inviting applications from KS2 English Teachers to work in primary schools across Newcastle upon Tyne. We are looking for an enthusiastic educator who can deliver engaging English lessons, encourage a love of reading and writing, and help pupils build the confidence to express themselves effectively.

The Key Stage 2 English Teacher will have the chance to strengthen pupils' literacy skills while preparing them for a smooth transition into secondary education.

KS2 English Teacher Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging English lessons in line with the Key Stage 2 curriculum
  • Develop pupils' reading, writing, grammar, spelling, and comprehension skills
  • Differentiate learning to support pupils with a range of abilities
  • Assess progress and provide constructive feedback to encourage continuous improvement
  • Create a positive and inclusive classroom that promotes confidence and creativity
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and parents to support pupils' academic development

KS2 English Teacher Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential
  • Previous experience teaching English within Key Stage 2 is desirable
  • Strong understanding of the English curriculum and effective literacy teaching strategies
  • Ability to engage and motivate pupils through creative classroom practice
  • Excellent communication, organisation, and classroom management skills
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
