Job Title: Learning Support Assistant
Location: Newcastle upon Tyne (NE15)
Pay: £90–£115 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract: Full-time/ Part-time, Day-to-day/ Long-term

GSL Education Newcastle branch are partnering with primary schools in the Newcastle upon Tyne (NE15) area to recruit Learning Support Assistant (LSA). We welcome applications from caring and committed individuals with experience supporting pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), who can provide consistent encouragement and create positive learning experiences.
The LSA role promotes engagement, independence, and confidence while helping children achieve their individual learning goals.
Learning Support Assistant Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one and small-group support for pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
- Assist teachers in delivering engaging and inclusive classroom activities
- Encourage communication, independence, and positive social interaction
- Support the implementation of individual education and behaviour plans
- Build strong relationships with pupils, families, and school staff
- Help maintain a calm, safe, and supportive learning environment
Learning Support Assistant Requirements:
- Previous experience supporting primary-aged pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is essential
- Good understanding of strategies that promote inclusion and positive behaviour
- Ability to adapt your approach to meet individual learning and communication needs
- Strong interpersonal skills with a patient and compassionate attitude
- Committed to helping every pupil achieve their full potential
- Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
