Pay: £110–£125 per day (depending on experience)

Contract: Full-time/ Part-time, Day-to-day/ Long-term

GSL Education are recruiting a Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to work within secondary schools in Ashington. This role would suit a patient and reliable individual who has experience supporting secondary-aged learners and can provide tailored assistance to pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
The Learning Support Assistant will focus on helping students access learning, build confidence, and overcome barriers that may affect their progress.
Responsibilities of LSA:
- Provide one-to-one and small-group support for secondary-aged students with SEN
- Assist learners in accessing classroom tasks and understanding lesson activities
- Encourage positive behaviour, confidence, and active participation in learning
- Work alongside teachers to adapt support based on individual student needs
- Help students develop independence, organisation, and communication skills
- Contribute to a structured and inclusive classroom environment
Requirements for LSA:
- Experience working with secondary-aged learners is essential
- Previous experience supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) is essential
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Ability to remain calm, patient, and professional in challenging situations
- Flexible and proactive approach to supporting learning and behaviour
- Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
