Contract Type: Temporary, Part-Time, Term Time Only
Start Date: September 2026 or sooner
Salary Scale: £32,916 – £51,048 per annum (MPS/UPS)

GSL Education Hull branch are currently recruiting for a dynamic, enthusiastic, and passionate Teacher of French to work within a forward-thinking and inclusive secondary school in York.
We are seeking an inspiring educator who is committed to delivering engaging French lessons that develop students' speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills while fostering an appreciation of French language and culture. About the Role:
As a Teacher of French, you will become part of a collaborative and dedicated Modern Foreign Languages department, delivering engaging lessons that encourage curiosity, cultural awareness, and linguistic confidence. The successful candidate will inspire learners across Key Stages 3 and 4, adapting teaching approaches to meet the needs of students with varying abilities and helping every learner achieve their full potential.
You will play an important role in creating a positive classroom environment where students feel motivated to communicate confidently and develop the skills needed for future study and employment.
Key Responsibilities of the Teacher of French:
- Plan and deliver engaging and high-quality French lessons across KS3 and KS4
- Develop students' speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills through creative and interactive teaching
- Foster an appreciation of French language and culture within the classroom
- Differentiate learning activities to support learners of varying abilities and learning needs
- Assess, monitor, and track student progress, providing timely and constructive feedback
- Prepare students for internal assessments and external examinations
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to enhance curriculum delivery and student outcomes
As the Ideal Teacher of French, You Should Have:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) or an equivalent teaching qualification
- Experience teaching French within a secondary school setting
- Strong subject knowledge and a passion for modern foreign languages
- Ability to inspire, engage, and motivate learners of all abilities
- Excellent classroom management and organisational skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to inclusion, safeguarding, and raising student achievement
- A reflective, proactive, and collaborative approach to teaching and learning
To Work with GSL Education, You Must:
- Have the right to work in the UK
- Provide an up-to-date CV with relevant reference information covering the last 2 years
- Have recent experience teaching within an educational setting
- Hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to apply for one
