Job Title: SEMH Learning Support
Location: Newcastle
Pay: £110–£125 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract: Full-time

GSL Education are looking to appoint an SEMH Learning Support professional to join supportive schools in Newcastle. We want a compassionate and proactive individual who can help students overcome barriers to learning, build positive relationships, and develop the confidence to succeed both academically and personally.

The SEMH Learning Support role provides an opportunity to make a meaningful difference by supporting students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs in a structured and inclusive learning environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored one-to-one and small-group support for pupils with SEMH needs
  • Build positive relationships that promote trust, confidence, and emotional wellbeing
  • Implement behaviour support strategies to encourage positive outcomes
  • Assist teachers in adapting learning activities to meet individual pupil needs
  • Help pupils develop social skills, emotional regulation, and resilience
  • Maintain accurate records and communicate progress with teaching staff and support teams

SEMH Learning Support Requirements:

  • Experience supporting pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs would be an advantage.
  • Good understanding of behaviour management and de-escalation techniques
  • Ability to remain calm, patient, and professional in challenging situation
  • strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Committed to safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of all pupils
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
