Job Title:Cover Supervisor
Location: York, North Yorkshire
Contract Type: Temporary, Supply, Part-Time, Full-Time
Start Date: September 2026 or sooner
Salary Scale: £102 – £120 per day (Depending on experience)

GSL Education are currently hiring a Cover Supervisor to work within secondary schools in York. We are seeking a dynamic, enthusiastic, and reliable education professional who is passionate about supporting students and helping to create a positive learning environment where every learner can succeed.
Cover Supervisor Role:
The successful Cover Supervisor will deliver pre-planned lessons and ensure students remain engaged during the absence of the class teacher. We are looking to recruit a Cover Supervisor who is confident working with secondary-aged students, including those who may experience barriers to learning.
Cover Supervisor Responsibilities:
- Supervise pre-planned lessons across a range of secondary subjects
- Maintain positive classroom behaviour and ensure students remain on task
- Provide support and guidance to students throughout the school day
- Report student progress, behaviour, and any concerns to teaching staff
- Foster a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment
- Work collaboratively with teachers and support staff to promote student success
Cover Supervisor Requirements:
- Previous experience working with young people in education, coaching, mentoring, or youth work is desirable
- Excellent classroom and behaviour management skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities
- A confident, adaptable, and professional approach to supporting students
- An up-to-date CV covering the last ten years (with any gaps explained)
- An enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or willingness to apply
