Are you looking for an opportunity to lead a classroom and support students in their learning journey? A welcoming secondary school in Barnsley is seeking a confident and committed Cover Supervisor to join their team.
About the Role:
GSL Education South Yorkshire are currently looking for a Cover Supervisor to work in a supportive secondary school in Barnsley. You will supervise classes during the absence of teaching staff, deliver pre-set work, and ensure students remain engaged in learning throughout the lesson. This is an excellent opportunity for aspiring teachers or individuals with experience working with young people who are keen to develop their classroom skills.

Responsibilities:

Supervise lessons using work prepared by teaching staff.

Manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies.

Encourage students to remain focused and complete assigned tasks.

Provide support and guidance to students where appropriate.

Record attendance and report any concerns following lessons.

Work collaboratively with teachers and pastoral teams to support students.
Requirements:
-
Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable.

Strong communication and classroom management skills.

Confidence supervising groups of students independently.

A calm, adaptable and resilient approach.
-
Ability to work effectively within a school environment.

Experience in education or a similar setting is advantageous.
To work with GSL Education as a Cover Supervisor, you should:

Have the right to work in the UK.

Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last two years.

Have an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
Please be advised that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection and that successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks including providing an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or completing an application for a new check.
