Salary: £460 - £600 per week (depending on experience and qualifications)
Contract Type: Long-term / Temporary, Full-time / Part-time

Are you committed to helping young people overcome barriers to learning and achieve success in the classroom? A welcoming secondary school in Sheffield is seeking a dedicated Behaviour Support Assistant to join their support team.

About the Role:

GSL Education South Yorkshire are looking for a Behaviour Support Assistant to work within a supportive secondary school in Sheffield. You will play an important role in helping students manage their behaviour, build confidence and engage positively with learning. Working alongside teachers and pastoral staff, you will provide encouragement and practical support that helps pupils make meaningful progress each day.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group behaviour support.

  • Encourage positive behaviour and classroom engagement.

  • Work closely with teachers and pastoral teams to implement behaviour strategies.

  • Build positive relationships with students based on trust and consistency.

  • Record and report progress where appropriate.

  • Contribute to a safe, inclusive and positive learning environment.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable.

  • Behaviour support or SEMH experience is advantageous.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • A calm, patient and resilient approach.

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

  • A genuine commitment to supporting young people.

To work with GSL Education as a Behaviour Support Assistant, you should:

  • Have the right to work in the UK.

  • Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last two years.

  • Have an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.

Please be advised that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection and that successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks including providing an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or completing an application for a new check.
