GSL Education are currently working in partnership with a fantastic specialist primary school in Poole that is looking to appoint a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant on a full-time, permanent basis.

This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who wants to play an important role in helping children overcome barriers to learning and reach their full potential. The school provides a supportive and nurturing environment for pupils with additional needs, delivering highly personalised learning and care tailored to each child.

The school supports children with a range of needs including Autism (ASC), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, communication difficulties and additional complex learning needs. With smaller class sizes and specialist support, pupils are encouraged to develop academically, socially and emotionally in a setting where every achievement is celebrated.

What will your day look like?

As a Teaching Assistant, no two days will be the same. You’ll work alongside teachers and wider support staff to provide meaningful support that helps children feel confident, engaged and successful in their learning.

Your responsibilities may include:

  • Providing individual and small group support to pupils
  • Supporting learning activities tailored to individual needs
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing
  • Helping pupils build confidence and independence
  • Supporting communication and social interaction skills
  • Working closely with teaching staff and specialist teams
  • Creating a positive and inclusive classroom environment

Who could be a good fit?

You may already have experience within education, or you may have transferable skills from another background. We welcome applications from candidates with experience in:

  • SEN or specialist education settings
  • Autism (ASC) and SEMH support
  • Teaching Assistant or Learning Support roles
  • Care, residential or support work settings
  • Youth work, mentoring or coaching roles
  • Psychology, Education or Health & Social Care studies
  • Graduates looking to begin a career in education
