Teaching Assistant- Behaviour Specialist

Location: Boston
Salary: £93 – £110 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: ASAP / September 2026
Contract Type: Full-time | Long-term

GSL Education is seeking a dedicated and resilient Behaviour Specialist Teaching Assistant to join a mainstream secondary school in Boston. This rewarding role will involve working within the school's Isolation Unit, supporting students who require additional behavioural and pastoral support to remain engaged with their education.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who has experience working with young people with challenging behaviour and is passionate about helping students overcome barriers to learning.

About the Role:

As a Behaviour Specialist Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with students who have been referred to the Isolation Unit due to behavioural or pastoral needs. Your role will be to provide consistent support, encourage positive choices, and help students continue their learning in a structured and supportive environment before successfully reintegrating into mainstream lessons.

You will work alongside teaching staff, pastoral leaders, and the SEN team to ensure every student receives the guidance and encouragement they need to achieve positive outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students within the school's Isolation Unit on a one-to-one basis and in small groups
  • Promote positive behaviour and help students develop strategies for self-regulation
  • Encourage students to remain engaged with their learning while in the provision
  • Build positive and trusting relationships with students, acting as a positive role model
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, pastoral staff, and senior leaders to support student progress
  • Monitor student behaviour, engagement, and wellbeing, providing regular feedback to staff
  • Help students successfully transition back into mainstream lessons
  • Follow all safeguarding, behaviour, and school policies at all times

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Experience working with young people displaying challenging behaviour, either in schools or other youth settings
  • Excellent behaviour management and de-escalation skills
  • A calm, patient, and resilient approach
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable students to achieve their potential
  • Experience in education, youth work, mentoring, or pastoral support is highly desirable
  • An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
