Contract: Part-Time, Full Time, Term Time Only
Start Date: September 2026 or sooner
Salary: £92 – £115 per day

GSL Education are currently recruiting for a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to work within schools in Scarborough and the surrounding areas.
This is a rewarding opportunity for individuals who are passionate about education and committed to helping children and young people overcome barriers to learning. Working closely with teachers and wider school staff, you will play a key role in supporting students' academic progress, personal development, and wellbeing.
About the Role:
As a Teaching Assistant, you will provide classroom support to teachers while working with individual learners and small groups to reinforce learning, promote engagement, and build confidence. You will help create a positive and inclusive learning environment where all students are encouraged to participate and achieve their best.
This role offers a varied and fulfilling experience, supporting learners across different subjects and adapting to the changing needs of the classroom.
Key Responsibilities of the Teaching Assistant:
- Support teachers in delivering engaging and effective lessons across the curriculum
- Work with individual students and small groups to reinforce learning objectives
- Assist in preparing classroom resources and learning materials
- Encourage student participation, confidence, and independent learning
- Support learners with varying abilities, including those with additional educational needs where required
- Promote positive behaviour and contribute to a well-managed classroom environment
- Monitor student engagement and provide feedback to teaching staff
- Help create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning atmosphere
- Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, and parents/carers where appropriate
As the Ideal Teaching Assistant, You Should Have:
- Previous experience working with children or young people in an educational or similar setting
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A patient, positive, and supportive approach to working with learners
- Ability to build positive relationships and work effectively as part of a team
- Good organisational skills and the ability to adapt to different classroom environments
- Understanding of safeguarding and child protection responsibilities
- A genuine passion for supporting children's learning and development
- Relevant Teaching Assistant qualifications are advantageous but not essential
To Work with GSL Education, You Must:
- Have the right to work in the UK
- Provide an up-to-date CV with relevant reference information covering the last 2 years
- Have recent experience working with children or young people
- Hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to apply for one
