Job Title: Pastoral Support
Location: Middlesbrough
Pay: £90–£120 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract: Full-time/ Part-time, Day-to-day/ Long-term

GSL Education are working with inclusive educational institutes in Middlesbrough to appoint a Pastoral Support professional. The successful candidate will be able to build positive relationships with students, promote emotional wellbeing, and provide practical support that helps young people stay engaged with their education.

The Pastoral Support will create a safe and supportive environment where students can develop confidence, resilience, and positive attitudes towards learning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide daily pastoral support to students facing social, emotional, or behavioural challenges
  • Encourage positive choices and help students develop self-confidence and resilience
  • Work with teaching staff to identify and address barriers affecting learning and attendance
  • Support students during interventions, transition periods, and wellbeing activities
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and support provided
  • Build effective relationships with families and external professionals when appropriate

Requirements for Pastoral Support:

  • Experience in mentoring, youth work, pastoral care, or a similar support role is desirable
  • Good understanding of behaviour management and student wellbeing strategies
  • Ability to manage sensitive situations with professionalism and empathy
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Committed to promoting inclusion, safeguarding, and positive student outcomes
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
