Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant
Location: Sheffield
Salary: £460 – £600 per week
Contract Type: Full-time, long-term / Day-to-day

About the Role:
As a SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with pupils who require additional support to manage emotions, behaviour and engagement in learning. You will support classroom learning, provide 1:1 and small group interventions, and help pupils develop confidence and resilience within a structured secondary school environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Support pupils with SEMH needs in classroom and small group settings

  • Assist the class teacher in delivering structured learning activities

  • Help manage behaviour using consistent and positive strategies

  • Build trusting relationships with pupils to support engagement

  • Encourage emotional regulation and positive learning habits

  • Support pupils in accessing the curriculum effectively

  • Contribute to maintaining a safe and supportive classroom environment

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs is desirable

  • Strong communication and behaviour management skills

  • Calm, patient and resilient approach

  • Ability to build positive relationships with challenging learners

  • Flexible and proactive attitude

  • Genuine commitment to supporting vulnerable young people in education
