Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant
Location: Rotherham
Salary: £460 – £600 per week
Contract Type: Full-time, long-term / Day-to-day
Start Date: Immediately

About the Role:
As a SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will support pupils with additional needs across the classroom and in small group or 1:1 settings. You will work closely with teaching staff to help pupils regulate emotions, engage with learning and develop positive behaviours within a supportive secondary school environment.
Responsibilities:

Support pupils with SEMH needs in classroom and targeted intervention settings

Assist the class teacher in delivering structured learning activities

Help manage behaviour using consistent, positive support strategies

Build strong, supportive relationships with pupils to encourage engagement

Support pupils in developing emotional regulation and focus

Contribute to a safe, calm and structured learning environment

Provide feedback to staff on pupil progress and wellbeing
Requirements:

Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs is desirable

Strong communication and behaviour management skills

Calm, patient and resilient approach

Ability to build positive and professional relationships with pupils

Flexible, proactive and supportive attitude

Genuine commitment to supporting vulnerable learners in education
