Salary: £32,916 – £51,048 per annum

Are you an enthusiastic and motivated Teacher of PE looking to inspire young people through sport, fitness, and physical education?

GSL Education are seeking a dedicated Teacher of PE to undertake short-term cover and long-term placements within local schools in Ripon and the surrounding areas. This is an exciting opportunity to work flexibly in local schools while encouraging students to develop confidence, resilience, teamwork, and a lifelong commitment to healthy and active lifestyles.

As a Teacher of Physical Education (PE), you will deliver engaging and inclusive physical education lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4. This particular opportunity will involve a strong focus on Boys’ PE, supporting male students to develop their sporting abilities, physical fitness, and positive attitudes towards participation in physical activity and competitive sport.

Teacher of PE Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver high-quality PE lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4
  • Teach a broad range of sports and physical activities, with a particular focus on Boys’ PE
  • Promote participation, fitness, teamwork, and positive attitudes towards sport
  • Support students of varying abilities to achieve their full potential
  • Assess, monitor, and record student progress effectively
  • Contribute to extracurricular sports clubs, fixtures, and enrichment activities
  • Create a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to support student achievement and wellbeing

Teacher of PE Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) or equivalent teaching qualification
  • Specialism in Physical Education or a related subject
  • Experience teaching PE at secondary school level
  • Confidence in delivering Boys’ PE and promoting participation in a range of sporting activities
  • Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
  • A passion for sport, health, and student development
  • Excellent communication and organisational abilities
  • An up-to-date CV covering the last ten years (with any gaps explained)
  • An enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or willingness to apply
