Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant
Location: Stockton
Pay: £90–£120 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract: Full-time/ Part-time, Day-to-day/ Long-term

GSL Education are looking for an SEMH Teaching Assistant to join supportive schools in Stockton. We are interested in hearing from individuals who can help students develop confidence, resilience, and positive learning behaviours.
The SEMH TA role provides a rewarding opportunity to work closely with students who require additional emotional and behavioural support to achieve positive outcomes.
Responsibilities:
- Assist students in managing emotions and maintaining focus during learning activities
- Encourage positive interactions and help build healthy relationships with peers and staff
- Support the implementation of tailored strategies designed to meet individual needs
- Help create a calm and structured environment where students can thrive
- Provide reassurance and guidance during periods of emotional difficulty
- Work collaboratively with staff to promote student wellbeing and progress
Requirements for SEMH Teaching Assistant:
- Experience working with children or young people in support, care, or educational settings
- Understanding of Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
- Ability to remain patient, empathetic, and professional in challenging situations
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Positive and proactive approach to supporting student development
- Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
