Salary: £32,916 – £51,048 per annum

GSL Education are currently recruiting for an enthusiastic and experienced Teacher of PE to undertake short-term cover and long-term placements within a secondary school setting in Ripon and the surrounding areas. This role is effectively focused on Teacher of Boys’ PE, delivering high-quality physical education lessons and promoting participation, performance, and personal development through sport.

This is an exciting opportunity to take a leading role within a dynamic PE department, supporting students to achieve their full potential both in and out of the classroom, while promoting healthy lifestyles and positive attitudes towards physical activity.

About the Role:

As Teacher of PE, you will be responsible for delivering engaging and structured PE lessons across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5 with a strong focus on boys’ physical education. You will lead by example in promoting sportsmanship, discipline, and teamwork, while ensuring all learners are supported and challenged appropriately.

Key Responsibilities of the Teacher of PE:

  • Deliver high-quality PE lessons across KS3, KS4, KS5, with a focus on boys’ PE
  • Plan and implement an engaging and inclusive PE curriculum
  • Promote participation in a wide range of sports and physical activities
  • Lead extracurricular clubs, fixtures, and school sports events where required
  • Assess, track, and report on student progress in physical education
  • Encourage teamwork, resilience, and positive behaviour through sport
  • Ensure safe practice and adherence to health and safety guidelines in all activities
  • Contribute to the wider development of the PE department and school sport provision
  • Support students in developing confidence, fitness, and leadership skills

As the Ideal Teacher of PE, You Should Have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) or equivalent teaching qualification
  • Strong experience teaching PE in a secondary school setting
  • Specialism or strong experience in boys’ PE and practical sports delivery
  • Ability to motivate and inspire students of all abilities
  • Excellent behaviour management and classroom control skills
  • A passion for sport, fitness, and student development
  • Strong organisational and leadership skills

  • Have the right to work in the UK
  • Provide an up-to-date CV with relevant reference information covering the last 2 years
  • Have recent experience working within a school or educational environment
  • Hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to apply for one
