Job Title: SEMH Support Staff
Location: Barnsley
Salary: £460 – £600 per week
Contract Type: Full-time, long-term / Day-to-day
Start Date: Immediately

About the Role:
As SEMH Support Staff, you will work closely with pupils who require additional emotional and behavioural support throughout the school day. You will help create positive learning experiences, encourage engagement and provide consistent support that enables students to thrive within the school environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEMH needs

  • Build positive and trusting relationships with students

  • Support the implementation of behaviour and wellbeing strategies

  • Encourage participation in learning and classroom activities

  • Help pupils develop social skills, emotional regulation and confidence

  • Work collaboratively with teachers and other support staff

  • Record observations and provide feedback on pupil progress

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children, young people or vulnerable individuals is desirable

  • Understanding of SEMH needs and associated challenges

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills

  • A calm, patient and resilient approach

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team

  • A genuine commitment to supporting young people to reach their potential
