Job Title: Sports Coach / Learning Support
Location: Rotherham
Salary: £460 – £650 per week
Contract Type: Full-time / Part-time, Long-term / Day-to-day
Start Date: Immediately
GSL Education is seeking enthusiastic and reliable individuals with a sports, coaching or fitness background to support secondary schools across Rotherham. These roles are school-based support positions where you will assist with learning, supervision and behaviour support throughout the school day. This is not a PE teaching role or sports delivery role, but an opportunity to use your coaching experience to positively influence young people in the classroom.
This is an excellent pathway for those looking to move from sport or fitness into education, using transferable skills such as structure, discipline, engagement and communication to support students in a structured learning environment.
About the Role:
This role is focused on school-based support, including classroom assistance, behaviour management and cover supervision. You will work closely with teaching staff to help maintain engagement, support learning activities and ensure students remain focused and on task. Your background in sport will be valuable in bringing energy, consistency and strong group management skills into the classroom.
Key Responsibilities:

Support teachers with classroom learning activities and supervision

Act as cover supervisor where required across secondary classes

Use sports background to encourage engagement, structure and positive behaviour

Support students on a one-to-one or small group basis when needed

Help maintain a calm, safe and productive learning environment

Provide feedback to staff on student behaviour and engagement
Requirements:

Background in sports coaching, fitness, youth work or similar roles

Strong ability to manage groups of young people

Confident communication and behaviour management skills

Adaptable and reliable approach to school-based work

Genuine interest in supporting young people in education
