The Role

As a KS1 Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with a pupil requiring additional support throughout the school day. You will help them access learning, build confidence, develop positive relationships, and achieve their individual goals.

This role is ideal for someone who is patient, positive, and passionate about supporting children with additional needs. Every day will bring new challenges and rewards, making it a highly fulfilling position.

Your Responsibilities

  • Providing dedicated support to a child with additional SEN needs within a KS1 classroom
  • Helping the pupil engage with lessons and classroom activities
  • Encouraging confidence, independence, and self-esteem
  • Supporting social, emotional, and academic development
  • Working alongside the class teacher to adapt learning activities where required
  • Promoting positive behaviour and engagement
  • Building a strong and trusting relationship with the pupil
  • Collaborating with teachers, SENCOs, and parents to ensure consistent support

  • Experience working with children, ideally within a school or childcare setting
  • Understanding of SEN and strategies to support individual learning needs
  • A nurturing, patient, and positive attitude
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
