Full Time, Term Time Only
Start Date: September 2026 or sooner
Salary: £32,916 – £51,048 per annum*

Are you a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teacher looking for a rewarding long-term role supporting primary-aged pupils with additional needs?

GSL Education are searching for an enthusiastic SEN Teacher to work within a specialist educational setting in Scarborough, supporting children with a range of special educational needs including autism, communication difficulties, and social, emotional, and behavioural needs.

As an SEN Teacher, you will deliver engaging and personalised lessons, helping pupils build confidence, develop key skills, and achieve meaningful progress in a nurturing and structured environment.

The school is a specialist provision supporting students with autism and a range of additional learning needs, including communication difficulties, sensory processing needs, and associated behavioural challenges

Special Needs Teacher Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver creative, differentiated lessons tailored to individual learning needs
  • Support pupils’ academic, social, and emotional development
  • Create a positive, inclusive, and safe classroom environment
  • Work closely with teaching assistants, SEN staff, and external professionals
  • Use effective behaviour management strategies to support engagement and learning
  • Monitor pupil progress and adapt teaching approaches where needed
  • Encourage independence, confidence, and communication skills

Special Needs Teacher Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification
  • Experience working with children with SEN, SEMH, or additional learning needs
  • A patient, nurturing, and adaptable approach to teaching
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills
  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and families
  • An up-to-date CV covering the last ten years (with any gaps explained)
  • An enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or willingness to apply
